Shear Brilliance integrated right angle ...
Right around the world, one of the main complaints in using automated shears and punches for fabrication has been the need to read tool requirements followed by painstakingly slow bolting of the required tool in its holder.
Finn-Power has made this a thing of the past. It is the only global automation supplier utilising with barcode technology to simplify and speed processes in punching, forming, tapping, marking and shearing, this time in its Shear Brilliance integrated right angle shear.
Officially unveiled at the recent Euroblech industry show, Shear Brilliance with barcode reader technology is distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Maxitec and it could not have arrived too soon according to Sales and Marketing Manager, Mr Andrew Bentrup.
“When Finn-Power pioneered the right angle shearing concept in 1987, it was, like the barcode integration is today, at the forefront of technology and market need,” said Mr Bentrup.
“So in its ongoing commitment to reduce or even eliminate anything that
resembles manual involvement with its machines the company simplified the tasks of tool selection and setup on its Shear Brilliance.”
“Previously, an operator was required to read all tool requirements and then physically select the tool positions in the machine and place the new tooling in a process that always contains the likely human element of error.
“Now the operator simply runs a reader over a barcode on the job piece or job sheet and the Shear Brilliance unit not only selects the appropriate tooling, it also places it in the ready position.”
This action, known as the ‘swift tool barcode scanning system’, operates on Tulis software and sets the turret position at the correct station before verifying the right tool is placed in the machine, effectively becoming its own crosscheck system.
Apart from being extremely accurate and efficient, the advent of barcode systems on the Shear Genius makes them even safer for the operator whose handling commitment is very much reduced.
In the sheetmetal industry, barcode systems are unique to Finn-Power machines and are now becoming standard on many of its technologies.
As a retrofit, locking the barcode scanning system into the Shear Brilliance
machine requires a simple thumb clip and it all clicks into place.
A pioneer and world-leader in the integrated right angle shearing concept since 1987, Finn-Power’s Shear Brilliance offers high sheet utilisation and productivity with less setup and waiting time.
The result is more high-quality components per time unit and at lower cost.
Integrated shearing concept allows 10 – 15% higher sheet utilisation, and as there are no expensive consumables, running costs are low.
Shear Brilliance can perform loading, punching, forming, tapping, marking
shearing and stacking in a single unit. The 6.4 m axis allows every work stage from loading to shearing to be made without repositioning. Maximum sheet size is up to 1,500 mm x 4,200 mm (on the Shear Brilliance 8).
Its punching process is extremely fast due to linear servo technology, 2.2g
acceleration, 244 m/min positioning speed (X/Y) as well as hit speed, which is up to 1,400 on 1 mm centres. Finn-Power turret technology offers high versatility as every station can be indexable. Indexable upforming, tapping and inkjet marking
can be added in the same machine.
Fabrication and material handling operations are simultaneous to eliminate waste time. As shearing is performed, the next sheet is already centered for punching to begin immediately. A wide range of modular equipment is available for sorting and stacking of components in cell operation. Shear Brilliance can be connected to an automatic sheet storage, a coil line, or integrated in Flexible manufacturing systems.
