Energy Efficient Building Materials - Bricks Types
Choosing the right brick types required for your application is easy if you follow the simple guide detailed below.
Each Full sized Energy Brick is 600mm long and 320mm wide (including the Magnesium Oxide Board on the internal and external surfaces). Each Half brick is 300mm long.
Simply calculate the number of bricks needed using the external dimensions of the walls.
If the external dimensions are in multiples of 300mm there will be no need to cut any bricks.
Don't forget to deduct for the window and door openings and make sure you choose the right sized brick to face these openings.
Each Energy Brick is 300mm high, so simply divide the height of your wall by 300mm and then multiply this number by the number you had previously calculated above.
You may need to add a few more bricks to allow for going over the head detail for the window or door.
Remember that they are laid in a brick pattern so don't forget to add in those special application bricks for openings, corners or "T" Junctions.
Remember, that if you have a concrete slab it may be necessary to purchase some extra Magnesium Oxide Boards that can be adhered to the edge of the concrete slab.
If there is part of the concrete slab that sticks up out of the ground, for example, these magnesium oxide boards can help to give the correct look and feel that is needed.
