Using an Australian developed process Recycled Plastic Technology (RPT) Pty Ltd has been manufacturing medium to large diameter recycled plastic pipe at 32 Dawson St Moama, since July 1999.

Commencing marketing activity to the rural sector of SE Australia, RPT rapidly evolved to become a major supplier to both the rural and forestry industries of drainage pipe and crossings leading to an expansion of activities to cover all States and Territories through over 250 Distributors serviced by 12 Pipe Storage Depots by 2002.

In recognition of the negative effects of drought etc on the rural market RPT embarked upon a program of product research coupled with testing by CSIRO and Swinburne University of Technology with the goal of entering the civil infra-structure end of the market.

This led to the successful development and production of a pipe possessing properties offering stiffness ratings more traditionally associated with concrete and PVC pipes and tensile toughness more appropriate to High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes at a competitive price and now marketed under the registered brand name The Green Pipe (TGP).

Following this successful development, close cooperation and testing on the Tullamarine Freeway and Calder Highway intersection resulted in approval by VicRoads for all drainage and storm water applications.

Similar activity is now underway with the RTA, NSW.

TGP is manufactured in 6 metre lengths in 6 different diameters from 250mm to 600mm using rubber ring joints for continuous lengths.

Current capacity enables RPT to produce up to 4 different pipe diameters simultaneously and can typically produce 450 metres of pipe per day consuming around 150,000 2 litre milk bottles in the process.

To secure the quality and availability of this raw material RPT processes these bottles on site.

Promo message The Green Pipe

Using 100% recycled raw materials sourced primarily from kerbside collection and a unique low energy manufacturing process the pipe has a carbon footprint of approximately 50% of competitive virgin products.

This coupled with its lightweight and ease of nesting & handling for transportation adds further to this energy saving attribute.
