The King Materials Handling Fork Attached Safety Cage has been improved even further. King carried out this work as it was suggested that some harness hooks can shear off under sudden load, if they are solely welded to the thin wall of the frame.

Firstly another upright has been fitted to the centre of the lower rear section of the cage. This strengthens the rear section considerably, especially where the vertical and cross sections meet.

Secondly, a heavy duty plate has been welded at the intersection, in order to connect the two braces together. This forms a very substantial junction. The new optional heavy duty 'Double D' Harness Hook can now be bolted through this reinforced junction.

WorkSafe have determined that a fork attached safety cage operator does not require – by regulation – a safety harness, however, for those persons working at height, the wearing of a full harness and breakaway lanyard, secured firmly to a substantial point on the back wall of the Cage, must give peace of mind – especially if they fall from the cage.
