While the name ‘Reach Truck’ may be a little confusing, these versatile, nimble vehicles are still very much part of the forklift family. Forklifts have utterly revolutionised warehousing, vastly reducing the real estate required to store large quantities of products and facilitating easy movement of bulk goods from truck to rack.

Like a turret truck, a reach trucks is compact, maneuverable forklifts designed to work in narrow aisles and is capable of lifting pallets weighing up to 2,500kgs over 10 metres.

While some models allow a front-facing seating position, the operator usually sits sideways, allowing maximum maneuverability and comfort. Many reach trucks also include features to increase visibility such as a camera so the operator can see what’s happening above their head via a video screen.

The wheels are located below the operator, this helps create a tighter turning circle allowing the operator to navigate smaller spaces while still being capable of reaching high racking.
