Vacuum Pump Buying Guide

Find and buy vacuum pumps from verified suppliers on IndustrySearch. A vacuum pump removes gases from a sealed system, creating a partial vacuum.

Things to consider when buying a vacuum pump:

  • Know your application - Important factors to know before getting started are required vacuum level (in mbar or Torr), chemical compatibility requirements, volumetric flow (pumping speed) requirements, and installation requirements like connection ports or automation options.
  • Consider chemical compatibility - For example:
    • The pump’s materials of manufacture should be compatible with the process gases and application, so that process gasses will not corrode or harm the pump.
    • In any system under vacuum residual traces of gas will be present and these should too be compatible with the process. In dry running vacuum pumps the residual traces of gas will only be molecules of the initial process gas, but for liquid operation pumps this residual gas can be vaporized water, oil or other liquid required for pump operation.
  • Know your pumping speed requirements - Choose a vacuum pump that can meet application requirements, taking into account the required pumping speed (volume flow) and final vacuum pressure.
  • Consider specialized application requirements - Specialized applications include roughing pumps in multi staged high or ultra-high vacuum systems, applications that require small pump form factor, advanced monitoring capabilities, etc.
