The DC is produced by a fully regulated linear power supply that will look after the load and supply charge to the battery. Quality DC power and long battery life is maintained by a smart controller that also allows for a "bump-less" change over. When the AC power is off and the DC is from the batteries, the smart control protects the batteries from being over drained by the load, the DC is turned off before the batteries are drained to the point of damage. This protects the batteries so that they are ready for charging as soon as the AC power is returned.
