The system consists of a database program that runs on a PC, 1 or more hand held terminals and an interface cradle to the PC.

The stores person issues items by scanning the bar code on an ID badge for the person receiving the item and then scanning the bar codes on the items they are taking. Items are returned by scanning the ID of the person returning the item and then scanning the items being retuned.

The database maintains the status of all items and records when they are being issued and returned. Reports are available showing items that are currently out of the store, who has an item, when items are being used etc.

A stock take facility is also provided which allows for the current items in store to be reconciled against the database records and corrected automatically.

The Tool Tracking System provides a complete automated system for the stores environment and allows accurate tracking of tool location and usage.
