Looking for a palletising solution to reduce labour costs and improve worker safety, a Milk Formula manufacturer reached out to Nupac. “Best installation of any machinery in our facility"
- Nominated for a saftey award
- Halved labour costs
- ROI in less than 11 months
Using a manual stacking process, the customer had two staff members packing cases from the case packer onto pallets. This process created a range of health and safety issues, including RSI and back complaints due to the repetitive nature of the task.
As well as this, the stacking process and height of the pallets created blind spots for forklifts, increasing the likelihood of accidents.
As a result, the customer was looking to increase the safety of their packaging process, while at the same time reduce costs and increase efficiency.
After working closely with the customer to analyse the project requirements, Nupac provided a Smart Robotics Cobot palletising solution.
As an accurate, safe and efficient solution, the Smart Robotics Palletiser has a small footprint and was an easy fit into the current customer's processing and packaging line. Providing automated packaging, the palletiser also provided 24/7 packaging capabilities.
Through using this solution, the customer was able to reduce their labour requirements from two individuals to less than one, while also reducing the previous health and safety risks involved in the palletising process down to zero. As a result of minimising staff injuries and hazards, this project was nominated for a safety award.
With the line currently operating 24 hours, 5 days a week, the customer is extremely satisfied with the solution, stating that they have seen a return on investment within 11 months, with reduced downtime and eliminated safety hazards, creating a better environment for the business and staff.
