ENERPAT Metal Chip Wringer, also known as a metal chip spinner or centrifuge, uses high-speed centrifugal separation to remove cutting oil, coolant, and other fluids from machining chips. It produces cleaner, drier metal scrap while recovering valuable fluids for potential reuse.
Suitable for steel, cast iron, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass, titanium, and other metal chips, ENERPAT metal chip de-oiling machines help reduce fluid disposal costs, improve scrap handling, and prepare machining chips for recycling or briquetting.
What Is a Metal Chip Wringer?
Metal chips generated by CNC turning, milling, drilling, and other machining processes often contain oil or coolant. Excessive fluid makes chips difficult to store, transport, recycle, and process.
A metal chip wringer or centrifuge uses centrifugal force to separate liquid from solid metal chips. The recovered oil or coolant is collected separately, while the processed chips are discharged with significantly less residual fluid.
This makes centrifugal de-oiling an effective step in metal swarf recycling and metal chip processing.
How Does a Metal Chip Centrifuge Work?
The machine uses a high-speed rotating drum to separate fluids from metal chips:
Feeding: Metal chips are loaded into the rotating chamber.
Centrifugal Separation: High-speed rotation forces oil and coolant away from the metal chips.
Fluid Collection: Separated liquids pass through the perforated drum and are collected in a dedicated chamber.
Chip Discharge: De-oiled chips are discharged for recycling, briquetting, or further processing.
Reduce Oil Content from Approximately 30% to 3–5%
For suitable machining chips, centrifugal de-oiling can significantly reduce the amount of oil or coolant carried with the scrap.
Before De-Oiling: Approx. 30% oil/coolant content

After De-Oiling: Approx. 3–5% residual oil content
Actual results depend on chip material, chip shape and size, fluid characteristics, feed conditions, and machine configuration. ENERPAT recommends testing your actual material to confirm de-oiling performance.
Key Benefits of Metal Chip De-Oiling
Recover Cutting Oil and Coolant
Separated cutting fluids can potentially be filtered and reused, helping reduce fresh coolant consumption and operating costs.
Improve Scrap Quality
Cleaner metal chips are easier to handle and can be more suitable for recycling, remelting, and briquetting.
Reduce Waste and Transportation Costs
Lower fluid content means less liquid is transported with the scrap. Drier chips are also easier to store and handle.
Prepare Chips for Briquetting
De-oiled chips can be compressed into high-density metal briquettes, improving storage efficiency and making transportation and recycling easier.
Processing Long and Tangled Metal Chips
Long, stringy, or tangled metal turnings can be difficult to feed, store, and process.
For these applications, ENERPAT can integrate a metal chip shredder before the de-oiling stage to reduce chip size and improve material handling.
A typical process can be:
CNC Machining ? Metal Chip Shredding ? De-Oiling / Centrifuge ? Briquetting ? Metal Recycling
Not every application requires all three stages. The recommended configuration depends on the metal type, chip size, chip shape, oil/coolant content, processing capacity, and final recycling requirements.
Complete Metal Chip Recycling Solution
ENERPAT can provide more than a standalone metal chip centrifuge. For customers handling large quantities of oily or bulky machining scrap, we can integrate:
Metal Chip Shredder
Reduces long, tangled, and bulky turnings for easier downstream processing.
Metal Chip Wringer / Centrifuge
Separates oil, coolant, and other fluids from machining chips.
Metal Briquetting Press
Compresses loose metal chips into dense briquettes for storage, transportation, recycling, and remelting.
This integrated approach helps transform loose, oily, and bulky machining scrap into cleaner and higher-density recyclable metal.
