What is a solder mask?
The solder mask is 1 of 4 core layers used in printed circuit boards (PCBs), and is one of the most crucial. This layer insulates and protects the copper tracks, preventing oxidation and other electrical faults. The solder mask is both a critical and aesthetic layer in a quality PCB and is the reason behind the iconic circuit board green that most people are familiar with.
