The international IP standard for sealing integrity lists IP65 as capable of withstanding low pressure water jets from any angle with limited ingress. Unfortunately, limited water ingress can cause damage to sensitive electronic components.

The IP66 rating allows for high pressure water jets from any angle and IP67 and IP68 ratings allow for total immersion in water. Scales carrying an IP69K rating are fully sealed and totally waterproof in wash down situations.

These wash down scales that are rated to IP69K are designed to withstand regular cleaning procedures using high pressure and/or high temperature water and cleaning chemicals.
