Q. Hi a question about coverage for Green Lock? 500kg stones for 20 Litre? Is that like a rule of thumb for an estimated coverage area?
According to the Garden Lock guidelines 20L will cover approximately 500Kg of stone or mulch. It may depend on how thick you apply it but generally speaking the better you can coat the surface area the better Garden Lock will bind. Hope this answers your question. The 20L Garden Lock will cover the surface area of 500kg of either stones/pebbles or mulch. For pebbles or stones generally speaking you will only need to surface coat the top layer of stones/pebbles that you lay on the ground say up to approximately 20-25mm. However if you are applying the product to mulch you may want to go a little bit deeper. We generally recommend 25mm. It is very effective at binding and you will see the results for yourself.
Q. Can I pour Garden Lock onto existing rocks? I have a strip of blue metal edging my concrete about 6cm wide and 20m long. Was hoping to not have to dig them out.
Yes you can pour onto existing rocks, make sure you cover the surface area of the rocks as much as possible and let set for at least 24 hours.
Q. Would you be able to tell me how often the binder Garden Lock will last for? How often we need to reapply?
General speaking Garden Lock once set should last for a very long time and effectively bind stones and gravel for years. It has a high uv resistance so will not breakdown in sunlight. It may depend on the amount of foot traffic you have but generally will last for years. It is a very effective product, just make sure to really coat the surfaces of the stones or mulch for best results.
Q. Hi There, I purchased your garden lock and while very happy and impressed with the product we need loads more and wondering if you have any suggestions as we have had our gravel in our gardens already and we had assumed this was a spray on glue which is my mistake but have gone through the whole bottle just pouring it over the rocks which is working perfectly but we’ve used the whole bottle for a very small area! My question is, do you have a spray on specific product that does the same or would the garden lock go through a spray bottle okay?
Yes you can use garden lock in a sprayer. If needed you can add a little bit of water (not too much) to thin it a little. Try to spray so you are covering as much of the surface area of the stones as possible that are on the ground. You can also use a watering can. We do have Garden lock in 20 Litre containers.
Q. I'm looking to bind some stones together, listed as 20-30mm in size. Will your binder cater for this size stone?
Garden Lock is suitable to use for this size of stone and should bind the stones well together. Make sure you just coat the stone surfaces as much as possible before placing onto the ground. Give approx 24 hours to dry.
Q. Hi. We purchased a 20litre of garden lock. Is it possible to spray it on the stones instead of mixing it with the stones?
Thank you for your enquiry, yes Garden Lock can be added to a sprayer. You may have to dilute a little with water to get it to spray properly say 10 % water and then test for spray, slowly add more water until you get good spray and re coat as needed.
Q. Can Garden Lock be used in a spray to cover existing pebble paths?
With Garden Lock you can add to a sprayer and use over pebbles or mulch. It is a good idea to cover as much of the surface area as possible, a good coating on stones to be effective.
Q. Hi, I have purchased garden lock to spray over my rocks that are around my pathways but I have read this instructions and it says I need to mix the rock with the lock binder, thats a big task for me to dig up the rocks, so can this be used in a sprayer and sprayed over the rocks to lock them in?
Most customers spray or pour it on top of existing materials for just the reason you have. It will work fine by spraying our pouring on top.
Q. What size rocks does this work on?
Great question! Garden Lock works best with smaller type size pebbles and rocks less than say the size of your palm on your hand. Garden Lock works well with Granitic sand size (5mm) up to (50mm) pebbles or stones.
In general you need to be able to coat the rocks as much as possible so they can set accordingly. The spread rate is below:
500mL approx 10Kg (of stones)1L approx 25Kg
4L approx 100Kg
20L approx 500Kg
Q. If I use your pebble glue stuff, can I not use the plastic pebble locking mats? Plan will be to put crusher dust down prior to the pebbles for the path.
You can use our product with or without pebble locking mats.
Q. Does the garden lock prevent weeds to a certain degree?
The mulch or stones are the thing that stops weeds and the garden lock holds them in place.
Q. Is this dog friendly as our dog does chew on garden bed bark & pebbles?
Best practise is to keep the dog away until product has dried after application (overnight) then there is no problem. Garden Lock is non toxic.
Q. Could you please tell me how long the product remains effective after application and what maintenance is required?
