Overview
When a local Australian manufacturer needed to scale production, they hit a wall. Their workflow required large-format pattern marking at extremely high speed, across fabric, denim, acrylic and timber but no existing galvo system in Australia could handle the size, speed or material range.
Instead of compromising, they came to Prytec.
This is the story of how we engineered Australia’s biggest large-format galvo CO2 marking system, built from the ground up to unlock a new level of capability for their production line.
The Challenge
The customer’s requirements were clear:
- Mark large-format patterns with consistent accuracy
- Process multiple materials without slowing down
- Achieve high-speed throughput to meet growing demand
- Maintain Australian-standard safety compliance
- Integrate into an existing workflow with minimal disruption
Off-the-shelf systems weren’t even close. The available galvo machines were too small, too slow, or not engineered for industrial-scale pattern marking.
They needed something bigger. Faster. Smarter. And they needed it built in Australia, with local support they could rely on at any given time.
The Solution: Australia’s Biggest Large-Format Galvo CO2 System
Our engineering team began with a blank page literally. Early sketches turned into CAD models, prototypes, and full-scale mechanical assemblies. Every component was designed to meet the customer’s workflow, safety requirements and long-term production goals.
Key System Highlights
- 250W RF tube galvo for clean, crisp, high-speed marking
- Huge 1.6m engraving area, the largest galvo marking footprint in Australia
- 10,000mm/sec marking speed for serious throughput
- Australian-standard safety interlocks for full compliance
- Precision alignment guides for repeatable material placement
- Assist fans for stable, clean processing
- Integrated conveyor system for engraving on the fly.
The Build Process
1. Discovery & Workflow Mapping
We worked closely with the customer to understand their production bottlenecks, material handling needs and long-term growth plans.
2. Engineering & Prototyping
Mechanical, electrical and software teams collaborated to design a system that balanced speed, precision and reliability.
3. Fabrication & Integration
Every component from the conveyor system to the safety interlocks was built to Australian standards assembled and tested in-house.
4. Commissioning & Training
Once installed, we calibrated the system on-site, ran full-scale production tests and trained their team for immediate deployment.
The Outcome
The customer now operates a system that:
- Marks patterns fast and accurately
- Handles multiple materials without reconfiguration
- Supports continuous production with fly marking
- Delivers repeatable accuracy across large-format jobs
- Is fully supported by an Australian engineering team
Most importantly, they gained a competitive advantage that didn’t exist in the Australian market before this project.
Why It Matters
This project demonstrates what’s possible when a Australian engineering team works together.
Instead of importing a compromise, this customer invested in a solution built specifically for their workflow designed, engineered and supported locally.
It’s a win for the customer. A win for Australian manufacturing. And a milestone for what large-format galvo systems can achieve.
