Any notion of employing the services of a forklift is for Phase Two of your development unless you wish it to be part of the demolition of Phase One. Meantime your warehouse workers are covering the equivalent of a marathon course lugging inwards and outwards goods to all corners in small, time wasting quantities. You need a pallet truck.
Your options
Basically your choices are the grand total of two – manual or electric – and whichever option you choose, your warehouse efficiency will improve immensely as, whether manual or electric, stacking goods on pallets and dispensing progressively from one end of your warehouse to the other will save time and money. With a manual model you pump the handle manually to raise the forks - not difficult – and depress a hand lever to lower. With an electric model all this is done via battery power as well as low speed moving.
Weight considerations
Are you moving heavy batteries or featherweight pillows? Weight capacity affects cost, so do your sums based on a (sensibly) stacked pallet load of your heaviest goods, add a bit and buy accordingly. Pallet truck capacities start at about 1000kg and top out at around 6kg.
Height considerations
How high do you need to stack? Is it all ground level or do you need to place pallets on high shelves? More advanced pallet trucks come with strong telescopic legs so you easily manoeuvre heavy loads into lofty places.
