MAXI-CHECK Series virtually eliminates water hammer.
MAXI-CHECK Series virtually eliminates water hammer.

Water hammer is a pressure surge or wave caused when a fluid in motion is forced to stop or change direction suddenly (momentum change).

Water hammer commonly occurs when a valve closes suddenly at an end of a pipeline system, and a pressure wave propagates in the pipe. It's also called hydraulic shock.

This pressure wave can cause major problems, from noise and vibration to pipe collapse. It's possible to reduce the effects of the water hammer pulses with accumulators and other features

Our MAXI-CHECK Series Ball valves may be the answer to your problem.

MAXI-CHECK Series virtually eliminates water hammer.

How Maxi-Check works

As the media slows the ball tends to drop through the media due to its spherical shape even before the media has stopped moving. This slowing of the media allows the ball to drop into the seat creating a 90-95 per cent close in the valve. When the flow reverses, the last small amount of travel results in the ball soft closing in a fraction of a second and as a result of this action, there is no hammer in the system
  • MAXI-Check I: Dual function Isolation/Ball check valves from 7 to 150 bar work pressure for tailings, ash disposal, slurries, dewatering and waste water, either hand wheel, electric, hydraulic or pneumatic operation
  •  MAXI-Check H (high pressure), V (vertical pattern) and from 7 to 150 bar work pressure for tailings, ash disposal, slurries, dewatering and wastewater
  •  MAXI-L (low pressure) ball check valves up to 30 bar and non-abrasive media
