While initially the stair nosing posed no risk, over a period of time it became smoother, and an OH&S issue.
Management contacted several companies looking for a sustainable solution for this issue. The proposed solution also had to take into account that the original nosing was inserted to the wood to reduce the risk of tripping, and also had to be compliant with relevant slip resistance and disability standards, and be aesthetically appealing.
A Global Safe representative attended the site and after discussing the requirements provided a comprehensive safety inspection report, proposing that the Safe Grip Ultimate anti slip stair nosing using a dark grey colour be installed. The product has had extensive testing using the accelerated wear testing method, which has shown the Safe Grip Ultimate product to have an excellent sustainable very high slip resistive quality. The product not only will provide a sustainable slip resistive solution, but will also cater for disability access and aesthetic appearance requirements.
After evaluating the various options, the company has decided to go ahead with the Global Safe proposal, which was the Safe Grip Ultimate anti slip stair nosing.
The existing aluminium stair nosing were removed and recycled and the Safe Grip Ultimate product was installed over a weekend, ensuring that normal business operations were not inconvenienced. Management was very satisfied with the quality of the work and the professionalism of the team that attended the site.
The completed work was then independently tested by a NATA-accredited slip resistance company and the results have shown that the stair nosing issue will be solved for a very long period of time.
