In 2007 Itech Corporation were awarded the electrical design, systems design, manufacturing, engineering, installation and commissioning of the manufacturing and blending control system for the new Nulon specialty oil blending plant in Moorebank.
The oroginal project was a turn key project for Itech Corporation, implemented to the process specifications by ME Engineering. A key selection criterion for the client to award the contract to Itech Corporation was that Itech had the in-house resources and capability to deliver the complete scope of works without the need to subcontract any of the works. Itech provided the detailed electrical design, the control system design, the software design for the SCADA systems as well as the design of the blending software which is still in use at the site today, as well as manufacturing the electrical panels and installing the electrical systems and commissioning the process control.
Itech Corporation's delivery of this project was recognised with a PACE Zenith Award in 2008.
The new project was an upgrade to add significant capacity to the existing plant with an extended tank farm and to modernise and enhance the blending system and the automation system, adding functionality based on the experience of the use of the existing system by the Nulon process personnel.
As with the original project, Itech Corporation designed, manufactured, engineered, installed and commissioned the new and upgraded systems totally with in-house personnel.
The equipment used was the latest Rockwell Compact Logix PLC and the latest Rockwell SCADA software.
A significant achievement was Itech's ability to take a 7 year old system and to seamlessly upgrade it for the client to incorporate their evolving needs.
