As part of his investigations he approached SBH Solutions who was only too willing to assist. Starting initially with a standard HHD drum heater, trials were carried out in the factory which proved that the concept of one blanket laid flat would help cure the sealant bonding the composite parts of a wing together.
A custom design specification was agreed, manufactured and delivered within 3 weeks following the trials. It proved to work a treat and subsequently further units have been delivered for the composite wings as well as the 787 rudder.
