The NIDA 360S Trainer is the platform ‘motherboard’ into which all the NIDA 360 series of modules plug into. Each type of NIDA 360 module specialises in a particular aspect of electrical or electronic technology. With an emphasis on the operation and trouble shooting of problems that occur in generic technical systems, the 360S Systems Trainer helps students to learn how input, process, output, and feedback mechanism of a system are analysed, and how to solve complex system discrepancies. A set of NIDA 360 Basic Systems cards is included with each NIDA 360S Technical Trainer that replicates common technical systems functions to reinforce the concepts and troubleshooting principles that are learned throughout the basic systems program. The 360S Systems Trainer supports a variety of systems programs and processes including renewable energy, industrial processes, security and biomedical technologies. The card sets enable students to view a generic system on a ‘top down’ basis so that they can explore and see for themselves how a system’s inputs, processes, outputs and feedback mechanisms are interrelated and interdependent. In the course of instruction, the student learns how to troubleshoot such a system based on observation, block diagrams interpretation, and the use of simple test equipment. The card set includes manual and automatic control systems, monitoring and indication functions, open and closed feedback loops, and controlled outputs to hook up an external multi- function motor or servo.

Mains power operated, the 360S Technical Trainer provides 2 x 24V dc 1A sources with selectable intermediate voltages, a dual 12V ac 1 A source, and a USB or Serial communications interface. The Trainer is quickly assembled on a plug and play basis. All cards are preassembled. No soldering or jumper wires are required. All necessary test points are easily accessed by students who provide their own computers and basic test instruments. The chassis of the 360S Trainer is a machined metal base and all electrical connections are ruggedized to extend the life of each system many years. Each NIDA system supplied by Bestech Australia is guaranteed for 5 years, however, many NIDA systems have been in regular use for over 20 years.
